Market holidays
Not yet verified line by line. On 1 November 2026 the NSE and BSE holiday pages and circular PDFs could not be opened directly (HTTP 403, timeouts or refused connections). The dates below were read from search-engine extracts of NSE circular NSE/CMTR/71775 and the BSE Trading Holidays page, and the 15 January addition from NSE Clearing circular NCL/CMPT/72278. They are internally consistent (16 weekday holidays on both exchanges) but have not been checked against the PDFs line by line. Check the circular before you rely on a date.

Weekend festivals and Muhurat trading
Muhurat trading (Diwali Laxmi Pujan): Sunday 8 November 2026. The circular says the timings will be notified separately; we found no timings in the sources we could read, so none are shown. Check the exchange circular for the session time. Circular (opens in a new tab)
Session timings (not yet verified): pre-open 2:05 PM to 2:20 PM, normal trading from 2:20 pm. Most reports give 3:30 PM for normal trading; some give 3:40 PM, counting the closing session. See the Muhurat trading guide for the sources and the days around Diwali.
These holidays fall on a Saturday or Sunday, so they close nothing extra on a weekday.

2027
2027: Neither exchange had published a 2027 trading holiday list in anything we could find on 1 November 2026. The 2026 lists were circulated in December 2025, so the 2027 list is expected around December 2026. Dates for 2027 are not shown until an exchange publishes them.
Settlement
Trading holidays and settlement holidays are separate lists. NSE Clearing lists 19 weekday settlement holidays for 2026 in the capital market, more than the trading list, and includes days such as 1 April (annual bank closing) on which equities trade. For the 15 January 2026 closure NSE Clearing stated there would be no trading and no settlement in T+1 settlement number 2026011. We do not state any other settlement rule here.
How we checked
We compared NSE and BSE. In the extracts we could read, no date disagrees. The BSE page lists 16 weekday holidays for equity and equity derivatives, the same number as NSE. BSE items marked "unconfirmed" below were not named in the BSE extract we read, so we could not compare them one by one.
Rows apply to the segments named on them. Currency derivatives, commodity derivatives and debt lists differ from the equity list on some days (for example the NSE debt circular adds 19 February, 19 March and 26 August, and some commodity days have an evening session). Those lists are separate circulars and are not reproduced here; check them if you trade those segments.
